Superstar Suppliers for your Scottish Elopement
More often than not, our couples only require a Celebrant and Photographer (hello Bog Cotton Scottish Elopements!). However, if you’re looking for a few special suppliers for your Scottish elopement, here’s our go-to list of tried and trusted wedding suppliers who cover the West Highlands & Islands.
Hair & Makeup – Bonny Watkins
If you’re looking for some serious pre-wedding pampering, our go-to gal is Bonny Watkins from Bonny’s Wonderland. Not only is Bonny a total pro, making all of our brides look exquisite, she also doubles up as a German ceremony script translator (see Sabine & Mario’s blog)!
Because Bonny is a fully trained hair and makeup artist, there’s no need to book two separate suppliers (we love that kind of efficiency)! Bonny is happy to travel throughout the West Highlands and Islands so we highly recommend reaching out to her on the above link to see if she’s free on your date!
Caterer – Claire Gunner
Post-ceremony, lots of our couples are more than happy to return to their rented cottage, camper-van or hotel room with a bottle of champers and a shop bought pizza, but if you want to celebrate your newlywed status by indulging in some of Scotland’s incredible local produce, then we can’t recommend Claire Gunner from Inside Out Catering enough.
We’ve worked with Claire at both tiny elopements for two and large weddings with up to 100 guests and her food is always perfection! Claire is based in Mallaig and will travel to your rental and prepare a memorable wedding dinner using the finest Highland produce. You can reach Claire at: claire.gunner123@btinternet.com
Wedding Cake – Cakes by Sandra
If you’re looking for a sweet treat to celebrate your newlywed status, then you HAVE to get in touch with Sandra at Cakes by Sandra. Sandra is based in Fort William so very centrally located for all of the Highland wedding ceremony hotspots. Whether you’re after a box of wedding cupcakes for two or a more traditional wedding cake (she does mini versions for elopements), we really rate Sandra’s bakes!
Musicians – Angus Binnie, Eilidh Shaw & Ingrid Henderson
Just because you’re planning a tiny wedding for two, you can still enjoy a traditional bridal entrance, and there’s nothing more romantic that walking to an epic Highland location to meet your truelove to the sound of the pipes, fiddle or clarsach. If you fancy a little bit of that in your life, then we can highly recommend Angus Binnie (bagpiper), Eilidh Shaw (fiddler) and Ingrid Henderson (harpist/clarsach player). Give us a shout if you’d like to reach out to Angus, Eilidh or Ingrid and we’ll forward their details onto you.
Florist – McDonald Bros
If you’re looking for a blooming beautiful bouquet or boutonniere to have and to hold on your wedding day, our go-to florist is Serena at McDonald Bros. Serena is based in Fort William so if you’re getting married in the wilderness, Paula is happy to collect orders and take them along with her to the ceremony location.
Every bouquet, boutonniere or flower crown we have seen coming out of McDonald Bros has been perfection so we highly recommend getting in touch with Serena to discuss your wishes.
Wedding Planner & Mobile Bar Hire – Stephanie MacKellaig
The majority of our weddings are teeny, tiny elopements for two, which require minimal planning or stress; however, for those of you looking to embrace a bigger wedding in the area, we can’t recommend Stephanie from Edge Weddings & Events enough. Stephanie is pretty much the wonder woman of the wedding world in the west Highlands (try saying that after a couple of gins!) so whether you’re looking for help planning, styling or sourcing wedding props, definitely drop her line.
Stephanie also keeps wedding guests VERY happy at outdoor soirées by shaking cocktails and mixing their favourite drinks out of her fully stocked and licensed mobile bar.
Videographer – Cue the Mustard
Over the past couple of years, we’ve noticed that more and more couples are choosing to capture their big day on film and when you’re exchanging vows somewhere as heavenly as the Highlands, we can highly recommend it.
We LOVE Jess & Kieran from Cue the Mustard’s videography! Jess & Kieran specialise in both traditional wedding and elopement videography and they are happy to travel to some seriously remote places to capture the magic of your big/little day. Check out the video snippet on your left, which features the glorious Glenfinnan wedding of Rebecca & Dan (where Trevor was also on photography duty). Fast-forward a couple of years and Jess & Kieran have since married (August 2020), by Paula of course, and we’re looking forward to teaming up with these guys lots more in the future.
