Victoria & Sauli's Glencoe Lochan Elopement: Light, Love & Local Know-How

Victoria and Sauli’s Glencoe Lochan Elopement: Light, Love and Local Know-How

Victoria and Sauli came all the way from Finland for their Scottish elopement—and what a day they had. With golden light, peaceful woodland, and not a midge in sight, it was one of those truly special evenings that remind us why we love doing what we do.

Paula and I planned the ceremony for early evening, timing it carefully to catch the best of the light filtering through the trees. That soft, golden glow is impossible to fake, and it brought such a calm magic to the moment. The ceremony itself took place at Glencoe Lochan, but rather than the lochside path—usually busy in good weather—we guided Victoria and Sauli to a quieter spot amongst the trees. It suited them perfectly: quiet, wild, and full of the natural beauty they love.

This is where local knowledge really makes the difference. Knowing the best time, the best light, and the quietest corners means couples can enjoy a truly intimate experience, without the stress. That’s what Bog Cotton Scottish Elopements is all about—no fuss, no crowds, just meaningful moments in the heart of the Highlands.

Victoria and Sauli walked into the forest as fiancés and emerged as newlyweds, with the sun dipping low behind the mountains. We were honoured to be part of it.

Here are some interesting things about their day:

👗 Victoria’s dress, Sauli’s suit and both of their wedding rings were second-hand and looked absolutely amazing!
🦮 Their beloved dog Paul Newman (yes, really) couldn’t make it so they did their traditional Scottish hand-fasting with his lead.
✈️ One of the two witnesses couldn’t make it so we found someone strolling around the Lochan who was more than happy to step in.
🌞 The lovely warm spring vibe in the valley was SO wonderful that neither of us wanted to go home that evening.
